Criminal Minds Without Hotch: I Don't Think So
It's a pretty slow news day so far, folks. As a result, several outlets are putting up articles about Thomas Gibson's season 8 Criminal Minds deal. Here's my two cents - it's going to work out. Criminal Minds and their fans have had a rough go this past season with the the loss of A.J. Cook's J.J. and Paget Brewster's Prentiss and the addition of Rachel Nichols' Seaver. About this time last year, the show was dealing with big budget cuts that resulted in the termination of Cook as well as, the diminished presence and ultimate termination of Brewster. To say that the fans (including myself and the rest of the CM cast) didn't take the firings well would be an understatement. Thankfully, CBS saw the error of their ways and now both of the ladies who were given the axe last year will be returning for season 8. I'm sure that the utter failure of the CM spinoff helped CBS understand that there was no reason to mess with, what I like to call, the real Criminal Minds. Nevertheless, Thomas Gibson season 8 contract has not gone through, YET. I emphasize yet because this is a cast that genuinely loves one another and CBS has gotten enough bad press for their previous terminations that I really can't imagine this deal not going through. So don't panic CM fans there's still a ton of time before anyone has to report back to set. On a side note, I will say that I'll be sad to see Rachel Nichols and Seaver leave the show, but, it's a sacrifice I believe everyone is willing to make for the CM family to come together again.
