Josh Duhamel Comes Home to Pine Valley

All soap fans know that many of today's biggest and brightest stars got their start on soaps. Transformer's Josh Duhamel (husband to songstress Fergie) is no exception; Duhamel stared as the beloved character, Leo du Pres on All My Children from 1999-2002. In fact, Duhamel received a Daytime Emmy for his work on the soon to be gone soap. It's pretty exciting that now Duhamel is returning to Pine Valley to give his soap roots one last big goodbye. Josh's character was last seen drowning in a river and has been presumed dead for the past several years. So how will Leo's storyline be wrapped up? Who knows - my guess would be a tearful reunion with Rebecca Budig's character Greenlee Smythe. But, no matter what happens, Josh Duhamel is a testament to AMC and to Josh's grateful heart. I look forward to this home coming.

Salt 2: Coming to a Theatre Near You Soon

I have to say, I enjoyed Salt starring Angelina Jolie. Was it the greatest movie ever? No, not by a long shot, however, it was fun. Sometimes people just need a fun action flick. Clearly I am one of those people and as a result, I really look forward to this sequel. BONUS: With both these films, Angie does her own stunts and, people, she does them well. If you need some fun action before Salt 2 (because believe me it's going to be a WHILE), try renting the original Salt or Mr. & Mrs. Smith, I promise you you won't be disappointed. Tonight: June 6, 2011:


HGTV presents a crop of new shows (My Yard Goes Disney, House Hunters on Vacation and HGTV’d) Admittedly, the yards they’ve shown on the preview for My Yard Goes Disney don’t look at all impressive. Yet, it’s Disney related and so I must watch because I love Disney. Given the choice to go anywhere in the world, I would choose a Disney related location, such as, Disney World or Disneyland. On the other hand, HGTV’d looks quite promising. Also, at some point in HGTV’s June 6th line up will be an exclusive look at the new Winnie the Pooh film. YAY!



More importantly, tonight on ABC Family is the start of the new show Switched at Birth which stars Gilmore Girl’s Vanessa Marano and Katie Leclerc who, as per the shhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifow’s title, find out they were switched at birth. Adding a complication to the dhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.giframa is that Katie and her character are hearing-impaired. Back to the Future’s Lea Thompson and High School Musical’s Lucas Grabeel are also in the cast bringing some serious acting chops to the table. If that wasn’t reason enough to watch this new show, tonight’s episode will feature a sneak peak of the highly anticipated Pretty Little Liars debut which happens next week.

Tuesday June 7, 2011: It’s a big night for TV





My favorite new reality show The Voice moves to a new section of the competition and, AMERICA, we finally get to vote. WoooHooo!!





But MOST IMPORTANTLY Tuesday June 7th gives us the beginning of USA’s new summer season starting with one of my all time faves White Collar. This should be an interesting season given that the last time we saw the White Collar crew Neal (Played by the absurdly attractive Chuck alum Matt Bomer) had just discovered a treasure trove of stolen goods. Following White Collar will be the insanely awesome returning series Covert Affairs. This CIA show is the best thing since Alias and it has a super talented cast and crew this is a MUST WATCH!!


Wednesday June 8, 2011 CMT Music Awards if you love country music this one is for you!


Friday June 10, 2011: Offering up more award show fun Spike presents the guy’s choice awards. Then, on Sunday June 12, 2011 CBS presents the 65th Annual Tony Awards hosted by the always wonderful and beloved Neil Patrick Harris. Sunday also offers up The Glee Project on Oxygen if you love Glee enough to watch a reality show about Glee cast hopefuls.

Overall, It’s a good week for TV!

X Factor Judges

I’m not quite sure what to say about X-Factor. Clearly I want to Simon & Paula together again, but, all this judging drama is insane and I am sick of all this controversy. Ausiello of TVLine is reporting that Nicole Scherzinger will replace England’s sweetheart Cheryl Cole. I feel really bad for Cheryl; this will do nothing to improve the U.S.’s relationship with the U.K. However, hopefully this means that the DRAMA is over. Goodbye GH?

It’s true the days of Luke and Laura have gone by the wayside. GH is no longer the excellent show it once was, however, it still has a devoted following, reasonably good writing and high caliber actors. Today ABC announce a new show for Katie Couric as was expected by pretty much all the media outlets. Though ABC says it still supports the soap this move would indicate that it does not support GH at all in all likelihood picking up Katie seals the soap’s death certificate. I hope I’m wrong. I hope the media (all pretty much agree with me) is wrong. But, it looks like General Hospital, which has given the world heartfelt drama since 1963 doesn’t have much time left. Make your peace soap fans a piece of television history and our hearts is about to be gone for good. It is a very sad day. For all the specifics check out TVLine or Deadline.

Critic's Choice Nominations

Why do you care? By now, the average Joe or Jane has realized that what a critic thinks rarely applicable to them. I can’t tell you how many people commiserate with me about how critics seem to love shows or movies that they just can’t tolerate. And hey, I’m with you most of the time, but, these nominations are a precursor to the 2011 Emmy Awards and that is exciting.

What I love #1 - All the Justified nominations. If you aren’t familiar with Justified, it is a bit of a modern day western show on FX. It is dark and gritty, but, if you go take the time to endure the hard times the emotion pay off is spectacular and it’s certainly one of the best executed shows on TV.

What I love # 2 - Alan Cumming’s nomination. As my momma says, “I could listen to him talk forever.” It doesn’t matter what Cumming does I love him, but, this season on The Good Wife he was simply brilliant.

What I love #3 - Love for The Big Bang Theory and Fringe. It’s no secret that the public, including myself, adore these shows and it’s about time that they receive the adulation and recognition that they have rightly earned. John Nobel particularly deserves not just the nomination, but frankly, the award after playing two diverse versions of a character so well.

What I hate - No love for ANY USA show. USA puts out some of the best work on television. Clearly that’s reflected in the fact that viewers have made USA the #1 cable channel for the past several seasons. Come on critics - it’s time for you to pay attention to what the public sees and reward USA shows. I will say that I think Piper Perabo from Covert Affairs has a good shot at an Emmy nomination despite the fact that she’s not nominated here.
